Our commitments

AT CLIO GOLDBRENNER, WE DO EVERYTHING WE CAN EVERY DAY TO MOVE TOWARDS GREATER RESPONSIBILITY. WE DEEPLY BELIEVE THAT EVERY LITTLE STEP COUNTS AND CONTRIBUTES TO A HEALTHIER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE PLANET.

PRODUCTION
The skins (leather) are a by-product from the meat industry (the value of the skin represents 5% of the overall value of an animal on average. The rest is the value of the meat: animals are raised for their meat or milk, not for their skins)  Leather is a natural and long-lasting material

Our leathers are sourced locally, close to our factories to promote local economies and limit transportation (and the pollution it represents). Starting AW22 collection, 34% of our collection is produced using leather from LWG* Gold Rated tannery. Our goal is to reach 75% by 2025  The other materials used (metal inserts including chainmail) have no harmful compositions and therefore, are not harmful to human beings

The glues used on our bags and accessories are environmental-friendly or water-based, which is less harmful for the planet

We try to use leftover leather scraps to make small accessories (like keychains)

All our products are mostly hand-made (90% by hand – 10% by the machines)

A part of our production is launched on the basis of a pre-order system in order to produce 'just in time' quantities § All our bags have a 2 year-warranty.

LWG : Leather Working Group is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for the world's leading environmental certification for the leather manufacturing industry. Since 2005, LWG has identified environmental best practices in the industry and provided guidelines for continual improvement. In fact, they offer a suite of auditing tools to assess the environmental performance of leather manufacturing facilities – and certify those that meet their standards. A tannery with LWG certification implies it has been audited on the following aspects of their production:

o Water & Energy Usage

o Solid Waste & Effluent Management

o Air & Noise Emissions

o Traceability

o Health & Safety

o Chemical Managment

o Restricted Substances, Compliance & Chromium VI (CrVI)

DESIGN / COLLECTIONS

Our collections are designed to reduce as much as possible the amount of models (with a similar or close function) offered 

The design of our bags is mostly timeless to ensure longevity (for instance: our classic leather, NOS) We pay special attention to the pragmatism of our products (adjustable shoulder straps, integration of numerous storage pockets, ...) so that they can accompany us in all occasions, and through time. This limits the number of bags needed to cover our customer’s daily needs. To be as close as possible to these needs, we regularly meet our prospects and customers to identify their real needs and expectations.

DELIVERY / PACKAGING
All our paper bags (shops) and all our shipping boxes are 100% recycled and recyclable. Our dust bags are made up of 100% recycled materials (70% pre-consumer recycled cotton; 30% post-consumer recycled polester)  The size of our shipping boxes has been streamlined and adjusted as much as possible to the size of our bags to avoid wasting space  Most of our bags are shipped by boat (instead of plane) to reduce pollution.

EDUCATION
Taking care of leather promotes its longevity and durability. That's why our experts share their care tips with our customers on our website and in training workshops. We also offer free maintenance (in Antwerp) of our bags to extend their life  We offer a repair service.

HUMAN RIGHTS
All our partners respect a code of conduct guaranteeing the good working conditions of their employees and workers.

OFFICES
Our staff is trained and made aware of the gestures allowing to preserve the planet: management / sorting of waste, responsible use of electricity, water and paper.
